Even considering up to a month delivery? That is kinda annoying, but if you order in advance and know your’e getting something great for a fraction of the price, it is worth it! Welcome to AliExpress..aka Chinese Amazon. Where phone cases are a dollar and you can get a plethora of stickers and crafty stuff for under 20$. Perfect for DIY projects, parties, and crafts with the littles!
I was never one for prep. I used to start cooking for Shabbat at 3 in the afternoon. I shopped on Friday morning. I didn’t know who my guests would be till, well, sometimes till they walked in the door! Planning wasn’t really my style. Then I learnt better. LOL PEOPLE I STILL DO ALL THOSE THINGS. But sometimes I’m smart. It’s not a nice feeling rushing into candle lighting, or having cookies half done because you had to shut the oven off before sundown. I realized that making lists beforehand, preparing things in advance, getting ready for stuff-can make life a lot less stressful. We’re going to talk straight here, shopping on AliExpress requires PLANNING AHEAD. You are not going to receive your new nail polish in two days. You might want to order a size up on the kids socks, cause they might come next month!
So far, I’ve ordered three times from Ali, and I’ve been really happy with most of the stuff. We got this super cute animal backpack for Elianna. It actually arrived in two weeks, which is totally great. To my doorstep! It’s the perfect size for her and it fits inside: spare diapers, change of clothes, and snacks/a toy. Great quality, she loves it, and it was only SEVEN DOLLARS. Total score! I also got her knee high socks with kitty faces-a dollar. Pretty washi tape- 60 cents. 50 solid unicorn stickers for her sticker book-$1.30. Yeah, kinda amazing.
Now, it’s purim time(see that, this is me thinking ahead! It’s still a month away!). In Israel, everyone dresses up for Purim. Unlike Halloween in ‘merica Purim is a two day affair. The whole country puts on masks and gets drunk. There are street parties in Nachlaot and zebras riding the Jerusalem light rail. Kids walk around handing out baskets with goodies and wives pray their husbands will find their way home-or at least find a comfy couch in someone’s living room at the end of the day. We usually try to do a coordinated theme for dress up, a family affair. Once, Lani was a little Snow White, I was the evil witch, and Sim was the prince. Last year, we were pirates. Elianna was actually a strawberry, so I guess we didn’t make that such a family affair after all.
Good quality costumes I find can be hard to come by, so I usually end up going to various thrift stores, finding fabrics I can cut up,and making our own. Now we have a baby, and a toddler. There is no way I am seeing four outfits guys! I decided to look online and found the perfect animal costumes. Little man will be a tiger and Lani will be a lion. Mommy and daddy will be hunters on safari. It’s perfect! These rompers would also be great for just cruising at the house, and make for great pictures. There’s variety as well, to fit any theme you want! Curious George and a little monkey, baby shark and lifeguards, you name it, they probably got it!
My order
This lion romper size 24 months(she is older than that but it should be fine, as that was the largest size).
This tiger romper size 6 months.
Tips
- Always check the reviews! There are a lot of companies that sell the same product, but some will have no orders and some thousands, with reviews and real life pictures, and I always go with those.
- There is almost always free shipping, if it’s not free you can look for the same product from a different seller.
