One Pot Chicken Paprikash

Estee
A cozy and comforting one pot dinner made with fall off the bone chicken, tender potatoes, and mushrooms in a delicious sauce. Kosher for Passover!
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 5-7 chicken pieces any bone in chicken
  • 5 potatoes
  • ½ can of button mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 Tbs sweet paprika
  • 1 Tbs garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 ½ - 2 tsp salt depending on your preference(you can taste and add more later!)
  • ½ Tbs brown sugar
  • 4 Tbs ketchup
  • 2 Tbs tomato paste
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 4-5 Garlic cloves whole and smashed with the side of a knife
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  • Peel and slice potatoes into thick round slices, between ¼-1/2 inch thick.
  • Place in a pot. Add the chicken on top, and pour in the ½ can of mushrooms, without the liquids.
  • Add all seasonings and pour over water.
  • Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer until the chicken is falling off the bone and potatoes are tender, about 2 hours.
  • To serve, arrange in a shallow serving dish, or bring to the table directly in the cooking pot. Enjoy!
  • Note: If you like garlic, you can add in a whole head of garlic, peeled and smashed. This is how I personally like it! The garlic gets nice and soft and adds more great flavour to the dish.
